Stone Soup - Youth Group Event
Have you ever created something out of seemingly nothing at all? As the old story goes, Stone Soup is created when a simple pot of water and a stone are filled to the brim with ingredients brought together by the community. By working together, everyone was able to take what little they had and combine it together to create something delicious and wonderful.
The goal of our Stone Soup event is to bring youth groups together for a time of food, fellowship, and the experience of creating something new. No actual rocks included! We will be spending the evening eating, talking, worshipping, and playing games together.
This event is inspired by Acts 2:42-47
The Fellowship of the Believers
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Mission:
We are more connected than ever before in history, yet somehow loneliness, anxiety, depression, and isolation are at an all time high. God has put it on our hearts at Woodcrest to be a place that brings people together and gives youth an opportunity to experience the joy of Christian community (as described in v46-47).
Premise:

The goal is to come together as a body of believers, enjoy a meal (that we made together) with glad hearts. We don’t want this to just be another youth event that focuses on entertaining youth. We want it to be an impactful experience that reflects God’s purpose for the body of Christ and gives students the opportunity to feel joy that comes with Christian fellowship.
The early church gathered together to pray and to eat. They lived as a community, building each other up and sharing what they had. They met in each other’s homes and praised God with sincere hearts! And we want to do the same: creating space to pray, share what we have (ingredients for the stone soup), and praise God with glad hearts.
We will cap the event at the first 80 participants who sign up.
Cost: $50 for 10-25 students — $80 for 26-50 students—(leaders do not count toward total)
