You are invited to be a part of the incredible life changes that occur at camp by supporting Woodcrest financially.
Our 2020 theme for Woodcrest is “Upon This Foundation.” Although there are several changes in the staff at Woodcrest this year (including a new Executive Director), all the principles and values that have made Woodcrest what is, will never change. For 60 years Woodcrest has served as a retreat from thy busyness of life. It is a place where people can come and hear God’s still small voice in the middle of His creation.
For 50 years Woodcrest has offered Day Camps to serve the families in the local community with a quality program. Then in 1996 the first week-long overnight camp was offered beginning a tradition of wilderness camping that continues.
Even as Woodcrest has grown, the same foundation has provided stability and strength to the Board of Directors and staff. The Foundation is Jesus Christ and His Word. It is our mission to share Christ’s love with everyone who steps on this mountain. It is a commitment to serve faithfully, ministry boldly, and love fully.
2020 is a year of building upon that Foundation. We are doing that by investing in our older buildings. An extensive renovation of Rock Haven, Sandstone, Flicker and Wren cabins will take place this spring with the hopes of being completed by summer. Upgrades include new carpet, paint, furniture, and appliances. We are investing $10,000 in this project. Another significant amount of money is going to level and improve several of our campsites to make it easier for campers to level their trailers and RV’s. We will also be planting more trees around the campground.
Our four pavilions are a vital part of our summer camp and retreat ministry. Significant upgrades are planned for them this spring including replacing older appliances, replacing windows, improving kitchen appearances, and fixing leaks.
Our mission is to introduce people to Jesus Christ and encourage Christian growth through wholesome programs and quality facilities in a wooded setting. We are working hard this year to make sure that we are offering quality facilities throughout our campus while keeping Jesus central to all that we do.
The heart of Woodcrest, of course, is youth. Summer campers will also notice some investments as we expand our challenge course and increase our activity offerings. We have also added additional summer staff to help with the increase in camper enrollment that we have experienced in the past years and to provide better service to parents. Annually, Woodcrest absorbs about $100,000 in order to keep camper fees affordable to parents.
Your financial support will help us to keep moving forward with these projects, most of which need to be completed by the busy summer season. These are expenses that are above our normal operation costs. Your donations will allow us to stay on schedule in upgrading and renovating. Your support also helps reduce that $100,000 that is not passed on to parents in our camper fees.
If you would like to talk to someone about becoming a monthly partner in our ministry or have questions before you donate, we invite you to contact our Executive Director, Bill Klees (717-738-2233) or by email (Bill@WoodcrestRetreat.org). He would love to share more about the impact of Woodcrest and the impact that your support can have.
P.S. We would also love to have you share your legacy story. How has Woodcrest blessed you in the past? We invite you to share those stories on a special page of our website. You can go to www.woodcrestretreat.org/story and share a brief, encouraging testimony that can inspire us as we move forward. We will share some of those stories in future newsletters and on our social media pages.
