Meet The Year Round Team
Woodcrest Retreat is a non-profit, Christian organization located in Ephrata, PA. Our staff is committed to bringing excellent programming for all ages to our local community. Our vision is to see lives impacted for Christ and we feel privileged to be able to do that through our work.
Although I am new to Woodcrest (joining the team in 2019), I have been active in camp ministry since high school when I surrendered my life to Jesus at a Christian camp. I spent many summers at Camp Susque in Trout Run, PA. For eight years I was the full-time program director at Susque where God honed my creative talents. Even while spending 12 years pastoring a church in Towanda, PA, I continued my passion for camp. I started a teen camp at the church and spoke at numerous camps and conference centers during the summer. I am excited to return to camp ministry full-time and to use both my camp skills and pastoring skills to further the mission of Woodcrest as their Executive Director.
I received my Master of Divinity degree at Evangelical Theological Seminary in Mystertown, PA. I love worship–especially music I can sing to in my car. I’m an avid reader and a random trivia buff (although some would say nerd). My life verse is Romans 12:1-2 which motivates me to help others to think biblically and to live radically for Christ.
Joining me in this journey of life is my wife, Heather, and our four children. We spend lots of time in the outdoors together exploring God’s creation and enjoying the many gifts given to us by our Heavenly Father.
I’m back! My heart for Woodcrest began developing at a young age when my grandmother used to pick me up on her way to Woodcrest to teach crafts for day camp in the early 80’s. Over the years, I have been a camper at day camp, a counselor at day camp, volunteered in maintenance and trip leading. I have also worked on summer staff at Black Rock Retreat and Beaver Camp. In 2002, I began volunteering in maintenance one day a week, which lead to joining the Woodcrest Team in a part time maintenance position. That position then lead to full time Maintenance Director. In 2012, God called me away from the ministry to focus on other areas of my life. God called me back to Woodcrest again in 2020. It’s a wild ride when you allow God to guide your journey! I am excited to be back and part of the team again. Being able to witness God’s provision and the growth of Woodcrest over the years has been a true blessing. Phil. 4:13 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” is a verse that really speaks to me during this season of my life.
My wife Jennifer has been along for this wild ride and I am so thankful for her as we both grow in the grace of God. We have two teenagers who keep our lives busy with many activities. We enjoy outdoor activities and traveling together as a family.
Anthony Sensenig – Facility Director
I have served as the Facilities Director here at Woodcrest since 2014. The thing I like most about Woodcrest is seeing people come together to worship the Lord, relate to each other, and take time to relax and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. I have been happily married to Julie since 2016. Before serving at Woodcrest, I worked in the field of excavating. In my free time I enjoy serving at my church in a variety of ways and being involved in different short-term mission trips around the world. I spent a few months learning at Rosedale Bible College.
Adam Fox – Summer Camp Director
I started working at Woodcrest in the summer of 2013 and moved into the full-time position of Summer Camp Director in 2017. In the summer you will find me in colorful bandannas and silly socks. I’m Lancaster county born and raised. I love the ministry at Woodcrest and I’m inspired by the community that exists to support what we do here. My passion is to disciple summer staff as they develop deep faith that results in unconditional love for the campers we serve. I attend Hinkletown Mennonite Church in Ephrata. My favorite verse is John 10:10(b) “But I have come to give life, and life to the full.”
Carol Martin – Administrative Assistant
I began working at Woodcrest back in 1993. During those years I have served in a variety of roles, most recently as part-time Administrative Assistant. I am married to Cliff (Director Emeritus) and have four adult children. We are members of Alive Church in Ephrata where I have taught children’s Sunday School.
I was raised on a diary farm where I developed my appreciation for the outdoors. I love traveling, gardening and reading. It is a privilege to be a part of a ministry that focuses on bring children (and adults) closer to Jesus in an outdoor setting.
My favorite verse is Proverbs 3:16 which states “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. A favorite aspect of my job includes Monday morning summer camp registration because I love to see the campers’ enthusiasm as they arrive at camp.
Cliff Martin – Director Emeritus
I served as Woodcrest’s executive director for 28 years and I am currently filling the new role of operations director role on an interim basis. I began working at Woodcrest one day a week in 1991 and through God’s faithfulness I have seen the ministry grow into what it is today. My wife is Carol (see above). We have four adult children and one grandchild. Our home church is Alive Church Ephrata where I serve as Mission Commission chair and a Sunday School teacher. Psalm 139:23-24 are my life verses. “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
All the year round staff are committed Christians who are active in their church and are in agreement with the Woodcrest Retreat faith statement. Please feel free to contact any of them with questions, comments or concerns.
