Summer Staff Opportunities at Woodcrest Retreat

Day and resident camps for children ages 6-15 are held at Woodcrest Retreat from mid-June through mid-August. Our summer camp staff members are vital to the summer camp ministry. They are the people who represent Jesus to the children at camp. We are looking for energetic Christians who desire to share their faith in word and deed as they serve in various roles in an outdoor setting. Other qualities include fun-loving, genuine, understanding, and full of love. Summer camp is a place to grow in an incredible Christ-centered community.

Desires to serve the Lord by providing direction and oversight of residential camp staff, schedules, and activities. Individual must be a committed Christian, active in their church, growing in faith and in agreement with our faith statement. Director must possess strong organization and relational skills, proficient computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Office, be outgoing, creative, take initiative, and have an attitude of service. Responsible to the program director. Post counseling experience necessary. This is a 12 week position. Roughly 2 1/2 weeks will be spread out from date of hire until summer (or another arrangement). The remaining weeks will be a resident position including meals & lodging. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.

Lead campers through and participate in daily camp activities, including singing, devotions, crafts, nature, and recreation, and off site trips. Counselors must possess a solid understanding of the Bible, strong relational skills and lots of enthusiasm. Responsible to the program director. This is an 9 week resident position including meals & lodging and/or possibly a drive-in position. Will include serving Sunday Evening, and serving with Resident Camp evenings (M-F) during the week. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.

Responsible to the program director. This can be a drive in position. This position includes meals & lodging. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.

Desires to serve the Lord through planning and preparing meals for up to 240 campers and staff each day. Coordinates volunteer kitchen staff and food purchasing and kitchen clean up. Should enjoy working with a team of people; possess a positive work ethic, and a servant’s heart. Experience in a working kitchen is preferred.

Reviews health forms at camper registration, communicates with parents related to health concerns, follows doctors orders in providing medication, evaluates and treats minor injuries, calls for professional help in major injury, promotes and encourages the health and safety of staff and campers. Keeps accurate records of all health related information. Licensed RN, LPN, EMT, CNA or nursing students or those with similar training are welcome to apply. May also include additional responsibilities. This resident position includes meals & lodging. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.

Individual must be a committed Christian, active in their church, growing in faith and in agreement with our faith statement. Emphasizes what we can learn about our Creator through His creation. Plans and teaches a daily lesson for campers. Individual must possess strong organization and relational and time management skills, be outgoing, flexible, creative, take initiative, and have an attitude of service. May also include additional responsibilities. This is resident position that includes meals & lodging. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.
Desires to serve the Lord through producing weekly camp videos to be shown at the end of camp parent’s program and for purchase by parents. Responsible for creating a camp video for each program. Oversee all videotaping editing, duplicating, and distributing responsibilities. Requires a high level of creativity and self-motivation. Applicants should have good computer skills and organizational abilities as well as a willingness to serve in other areas of camp as needed. Video, photography and digital video editing experience preferred. May also include additional responsibilities. Knowledge of Apple computers & Final Cut Express software preferred. This is resident position including meals & lodging. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.
Desires to serve the Lord through coordinating the arts and crafts projects, classes, stations, selecting projects, ordering supplies and organizing creative hands on experiences for summer campers. Requires a high level of creativity and self-motivation. Applicants should work well leading others; have creative skills, organizational abilities, as well as a willingness to serve in other areas of camp as needed. Art or creative experience preferred. May include additional responsibilities. This is a resident position including meals & lodging. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.
Desires to serve the Lord through leading and caring for a group of 7-9 campers and encouraging other staff. Counselors will live with campers in Adirondack style shelters, cooking 1-2 meals a day over a fire, lead Bible discussions, pray with and for campers and lead and participate in daily camp activities. Counselors must possess a solid understanding of the Bible, strong relational skills and lots of enthusiasm. In addition, this person serves as the first level of oversight and leadership to the same gender of counselors. Position may include serving as day counselor or support staff one or multiple weeks. Will be involved in camper follow-up after camp. This person should have strong interpersonal relationship skills with all ages. Preferably 18 or older. Previous counseling experience preferred. This is a resident position including meals & lodging. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.

Day Camp Counselors will lead campers through and participate in daily camp activities, including singing, Bible, crafts, nature, and recreation. Daily commitment approx. 7:30 am-5:00 pm. Counselors must possess a solid understanding of the Bible, strong relational skills and lots of enthusiasm. Preferably 16 or older. This is a drive-in position including lunch (not lodging other than Sun. night). Will include serving Sunday evening each week, General time serving is Sun. eve 6 pm-10:00pm. Mon. 7:00 am - 5:30 pm and Tues.-Fri. 8:30 am-5:30 pm. (rotation of before & after care either 7-9 am or 4:00-5:30 pm) plus serving as resident support staff one week and serving during specific weekend hours assigned. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.

Responsible to the special programs director. Preferably 18 or older. This is a 14 week position including meals & lodging and/or possibly a drive-in position. Will include staff meeting Sunday Evening, and serving with Resident Camp evenings 2 out of the 4 nights during the week. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.

Individual must be a committed Christian, active in their church, growing in faith and in agreement with our faith statement. Lifeguards must possess relational skills, be outgoing, take initiative, and have an attitude of service. Responsible to the Lifeguard Director. This can be a drive in position. This position including meals & lodging and/or possibly a drive-in position. Will include staff meeting on Sunday Evening, and serving with Resident Camp evenings 2 out of the 4 nights during the week. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.
Volunteer Positions

Counselors must possess a solid understanding of the Bible, strong relational skills and lots of enthusiasm. Preferably 18 or older. (Sun. 6 pm–Fri. 8 pm)
Individual desires to serve the Lord through leading, teaching, and caring for a group of 7-9 campers. Day Camp Counselors will lead campers through and participate in daily camp activities, including singing, Bible, crafts, nature, and recreation. Daily commitment approx. 8:00 am-4:30 pm, plus Sun. night prep. Counselors must possess a solid understanding of the Bible, strong relational skills and lots of enthusiasm. Preferably 16 or older. (Sun. 6 pm-Mon 4:30 pm) (Tues.-Fri. 8:30 am-4:30 pm).
Individual desires to serve the Lord through assisting in maintaining buildings and grounds under the supervision of the maintenance director. Should enjoy working with hands; possess a positive work ethic, and a servant’s heart. Hours vary by day or week as scheduled with Maintenance Director. Preferably 15 or older.
Individual desires to serve the Lord through teaching God’s word. Share at evening firesides of 80-100 campers and staff. Works closely with Program Director concerning teaching focus. Desires to be a support to counselors in helping campers to begin or strengthen and grow in their relationships with God through Jesus Christ. Sun.-Fri. evenings.
Individual desires to serve the Lord through teaching God’s word. Share at morning Bible classes each day, Mon-Fri. Each class includes approx. 25-35 campers and staff. Works closely with Program Director concerning teaching focus. Desires to be a support to counselors in helping campers to begin or strengthen and grow in their relationships with God through Jesus Christ.
Individual desires to serve the Lord through assisting in the preparing and serving of meals for up to 240 campers and staff per week. Should enjoy working with a team of people; possess a positive work ethic, and a servant’s heart. Hours vary by day or week as scheduled with Food Service Director.
Individual desires to serve the Lord through providing structured arts and crafts opportunities for campers to be creative. Lead morning craft classes each day, Mon-Fri. Each class includes approx. 25-35 campers and staff. Works with Program Director concerning project ideas. Desires to implement scriptural themes into craft projects when possible.
Individual desires to serve the Lord through planning and leading adventure trips. May involve some or all of the following: planning the trip menus, purchasing food. Loading, unloading, cleanup of gear, and spiritual input / devotions, normally each morning & evening, during the trip. Leaders will have experience with the particular type of adventure that they'll be leading (canoeing, backpacking, rock climbing, etc.) Leaders must also possess a solid understanding of the Bible, strong relational skills and lots of enthusiasm. Preferably 21 or older. Time varies according to the particular adventure, typically the trip time, plus planning, packing, and clean-up time.
Individual desires to serve the Lord through assisting the nature instructor in teaching groups of campers, and in feeding, caring for and displaying a variety of species in the camp’s Nature Shack. Responsibilities include cleaning pens and tanks, feeding, care of animals. Hours vary. 15 or older.

| Staff Assistant Fund Provides an opportunity for donors to give to summer staff members. Donations are placed in the fund to be distributed to participating summer staff at the end of the summer. A donor may be an individual, church, or church related group. A maximum of $2000 may be raised by an individual staff member in addition to their base salary. | Returning Staff Bonuses Staff who have previously served a full summer at Woodcrest will receive a $15 per week bonus for each previous year of service. |
2013 General summer staff commitment runs 9 weeks from June 9 - Aug 9. Time off is a minimum of a 24 hour day per 7 day period.
