Activities to Enjoy


Woodcrest Retreat offers a variety of recreational activities for enjoyment with your friends, family, and church group.

 

Ravens Roost

Get a bird’s eye view of Woodcrest from this unique structure. Located at our upper playground, the Raven’s Roost is a three-story treehouse loaded with lots of playground fun.

Hiking Trails

Enjoy the beauty and observe the uniqueness of God’s creation as you take a leisurely hike on our trails. A hiking trail map is available at the office  or  download  a map  here.New Frontiers Camp

Basketball Court

A full basket ball court is located next to the Poplar View pavilion. Basketball nets are also located on our lower parking lot for a low-key game of basketball. Bring your own ball or borrow ours.

 

 

 

 

Volley Ball

A volleyball court is located in the Mountain View playground area. Bring your own ball or borrow ours. You are also welcome to bring your portable volleyball equipment and set it up on our grass.

 

Soccer, Baseball & Game Fields

Two ball fields are available for a game of softball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee or football. Located on the upper part of our property, these fields are also ideal for large group outdoor games and water games.

Gaga Courts

This fast-paced game similar to dodge ball is a poplar activity that is enjoyed by both young and old. Three courts are available. One court is beside the Poplar View Pavilion, one is located in the playground area of the campground, and one is located in the upper playground near the Pavilions.

Carpetball

This activity involves rolling pool balls in a wooden trough. Knock your opponents 5 pool balls in the pocket before they knock yours in. Located in the Indian Rock Center and Poplar View pavilion.

Quoits

Enjoy a game of quoits! Pits and quoits are located next to IRC Center, Oak Shade and Cedar Lane pavilions.

Nature Shack

During the summer enjoy God’s critters up close with a visit to the Nature Shack which is usually open on Saturday mornings from 10 to 11. Children and adults will enjoy holding snakes, guinea pigs, rabbits, and turtles and observing a wide assortment of bird nests, animal pelts, etc.

Hillbilly Golf

Try a unique round of golf on our one-of-a- kind hillbilly golf course. Nestled in the woods, with the forest floor as the base and rocks and tree roots as the obstacles, players use a wooden mallet and baseball to navigate the course.

Swimming pool

The swimming pool features a main pool area, children’s area with zero degree entry, cascade waterfall and geysers, and a 10’ diving well. Enjoy refreshment in a relaxing Christian atmosphere. Snack bar, showers and restrooms nearby. Free of charge for overnight guests. Get all the details and pricing here.

Waterslide

A summer day is not complete unless a thrilling ride down our 225 ft. waterslide is experienced. Young and old will cool off with a refreshing splash at the bottom of the slide. Campground and cabin users may participate free of charge on set hours on Saturday and Sunday. Pavilion users and guests of campground renters may participate for an additional fee. Groups on site may choose to schedule private use for a fee.

Wagon Ride

Enjoy the fresh air of a Saturday evening ride through the woods on our tractor-pulled wagon ride. A small fee is charged for each guest. Private group wagon rides may be scheduled at other times for a fee.

Recreation Choices

Tetherball/Four square

Enjoy a competitive yet friendly game with friends or other retreat guests. Four square is available to play near the IRC Center. Tetherball is available in the pavilion playground and next to IRC.

Playgrounds

Small children will enjoy the swings and playhouses. One playground is located in the campground area, and the other is near our pavilion area.

 

Adventure Playground

Older children will discover the challenge of traversing the bouldering wall and cautiously cross a loop-rope bridge. Other elements include: Wild Woosey, Human Hamster Wheel, Large Ladder, Tire Walk and Balance Beam. These elements may also be used as a group activity.

Activity Den

You will find the Activity Den on the first floor of the Indian Rock Center. This spacious den is home to ping-pong tables, air hockey,  foosball, table shuffle board, and carpet ball.

Challenge Course Programming

Teambuilding activities for all types of groups available at an extra fee.  Groups can arrange a one hour program up to three hours.  Learn more at here.

Indian Rocks

The Indian Rocks are a large formation of rocks ideal for all ages to climb on and to explore the beauty of God’s creation. How did the round creek pebbles get imbedded in these large sand stones? Hike the Cattail Loop Trail to this wonderful area.

Woodcrest Barnyard

A variety of farm animals can be found in the Woodcrest Barnyard during the weeks of summer camp. Animals may include rabbits, sheep, goats, chickens, and a calf.
